Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone.

Why is it that when Someone has a different Belief than someone.. just because it doesn't fit into the "Popular" belief that it's the wrong thing to believe?

We all have different beliefs on different subjects. Not one person is going to agree on absolutely everything.

When you follow someones blog, do you follow thinking you're going to agree with absolutely everything that person posts? And once they read a post that they don't share the same beliefs as you, they stop being a follower of your blog.
When I follow someones blog, I know I'm not going to agree with everything everyone else says. That's what makes us unique, and makes us who we are.

I started to apologize and say that I'm sorry that I don't always follow popular belief, But I'm not sorry. I'm damn proud that I have my beliefs and my own opinion on things, Even if there are a lot of people who don't agree with me.

Yes, I am old fashioned. I was raised in a southern Christian home. I'm proud of that. I'm proud of Who I am. I accept that others have a different opinion and I'm glad that some share the same as me. However, If we all agreed on everything.. this world would be a very boring place.

Don't trash someone's beliefs. Don't throw "Facts" out there when they have nothing to do with why they believe what they do. State your opinion, but be an adult about it if you're going to comment on someone's blog. Like some have, say "It's good that you have your beliefs, although I don't agree." You can then state your feelings without any name calling. We are adults here, c'mon.

Yes, I am AGAINST gay marriage. This is MY personal belief, YOU don't HAVE to share that with me, but don't criticize me because I don't fit your perception of what YOU THINK everyone should believe.

If you don't like someone who has strong beliefs, that IS going to blog about things that other's May or May NOT agree with.. Then You SHOULDN'T be a follower of MY blog. This is where I express MY thoughts, MY beliefs and MY experiences.. Not yours. That's what YOU can have a blog for, and then people can choose to rationally agree or disagree with you.

"Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone." And that's exactly what I'm doing. My beliefs WILL NOT change just because someone doesn't agree with them.

  1. I can't agree more and I believe everyone has the right to their own opinions. If everyone agreed on everything, this world would be pretty boring!

  2. Me again! I think this is the most I have commented on 1 blog in a single day.

No one is telling you to not believe in your beliefs. No one is saying that you are out of line to blog about your beliefs.

What people are doing is writing back THEIR beliefs and their opinions. Believe it or not the best way to back your opinion sometimes is with facts. Do you have your belief and opinions on gays because of in the bible it states Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve? Have you ever quoted that line? I am not accusing you that you have, I am simply asking if you have.

Have you ever disagreed with someone and at least tried to use facts to explain to them why you think the way you do on that topic? If everyone just came in and said. I disagree and left it at that then the comment section would be pretty boring and have no discussion. What you have is a discussion and many bloggers would be happy to have a post turn into a discussion. Heck thanks to your comments it spawned this blog post from you. You wouldn't have this post if the rest of us didn't tell you our opinions.

TBC in next comment. Too long to post.

  3. Also just to point something out, in your post you said "And personally, if I were in the Navy, I wouldn't want to change in front of someone who is openly gay, and have them looking at me the way a man would- but that's just me." Right there you are jumping to the conclusion that if they were openly gay they would be checking you out in the showers. That is quite an assumption and goes along with someone quoting you ignorance is bliss and you accusing them of calling you ignorant. You ever here the quote about assuming? It is a very valid quote.

Just like it is your blog and you are free to write as you please. Wait a minute that falls under freedom of speech right? Oh yes don't get me started on the contradictions that come from any of the freedom stuff. That will be saved for a post of my own on my own blog. Where was I? Oh yes, just like it is your blog and you are free to write what you want, leaving the comments open is opening the door for people to comment. No matter what their opinion is. It does not say "Comment if you agree with me". It simple states "Leave a comment" or something to that effect.

  4. I love you! And I also couldn't agree more with you. We all have our own beliefs and they are OURS. That's what makes us all different. I don't understand why people have to bash your opinions on your blog posts? I think certain people feel high and mighty sitting behind their computer, typing away.

Loved your title and last sentence!

  5. I couldn't have said it better myslef. As Christians we often have to stand alone.
It's a wonderful feeling believing in something so strongly you don't care if you're ridiculed for it. Keep on writing what you want.
I have come to notice that the ones who call you names are the ones who don't know enough or don't believe strongly enough in what they "stand" for. It's just the image it gives off when they claim to follow that belief.
"Believe in something or you will believe in anything" I like to say.

  6. For me, this is the exact reason I stay away from these sorts of topics. I can NOT stand how people can be so cruel just because I disagree with them. I HATE how mean people can be and I'm sorry you had to deal with it. I generally don't even comment on topics like this because I know how ugly it can get and fast.

I'm proud of you and that you stood up for what you believe in and held your ground. That takes a lot of courage and a lot of class.

  7. I agree. I have only really left a blog once for an opinion because the blogger insulted anyone who held the opposite view. But other than that I find reading different views interesting :)

  8. Very well said, and couldn't agree more!

Keep up the good work :)

  9. I agree with you but I do not believe you. I have met you in real life and you judge a former navy wife because she has different views, Her husband just left her while she is pregnant and she was excited when the ship left for a month if I were in her shoes I would be happy too. Just because you and I are sad that they left does not mean she cant be happy. If your going to write things like this you should be able to live by it, and you dont you.

  10. Dear Anonymous, Grow some cojones. Seriously.

You obviously didn't look into the situation much did you? I never judged her. I told her I understood WHY she was upset and had every right to be... and every right for them to be away. But after 3 dates of her posting WHEN they were leaving and WHEN they were coming when I said something. That is not judging anyone. And while she was still listed as part of the FRG board, She knew better.

Tell me again, How that is judging anyone? And please tell me how that has ANYTHING to do with my post?
