Does yesterday's vote come with a morning after pill?

This is possibly going to be somewhat of a Controversial post, but hey, this is my blog.. I can say what I want. After all, this blog is about my feelings, my everyday life, and well.. ME.

As you can tell from the Title of this blog, I am very much against the new "Health Care Reform". Our country is already in Debt.. how is adding $100 billion a year to that debt going to help our economy? This is the land of the "Free", but now it seems to me that the government is taking away that freedom... they are trying to control us more and more.

I have been called "Selfish" because by not "supporting" this new health care idea Obama has going on here.. I don't want to help those in "need". I'm sorry. I am one of the most unselfish people I know.. and that does not make me selfish. I only see this bill bankrupting this country more so than it already is. This is all just my opinion.. you do not have to agree with me.

Ok, I'm sure you want to know more reasons why I am against this health care plan. Well, here goes:

For the first ten years, it will cost about $100 billion a year. Our country is already in debt. How is this a good idea again? Would this not just put more strain on our economy? That doesn't help anyone.

The bill might increase the cost of health insurance. This depends on whether the gains from increased efficiencies and increased competition is outweighed by the cost of providing additional benefits.

There will be a tax increase on high income families. You will have about a 1% tax increase. Why is it that the "higher income" families always have to pay? I come from a low income family (just to clear up any assumptions). This country was founded upon everyone being "equal".. That's not very fair in my eyes.

Providers May Refuse to Accept Public Insurance. This would end up in a lot more unemployment.

And everyone says, "Free Health Care!".. when in all actuality, it's not free. The working Americans are paying for some lazy person's, who doesn't want to get off their ass and find a job, health care. So yea, Let's give people one more reason to WANT to be on Unemployment and get something free from the taxpayers. Boy! Isn't that exciting?! {sarcasm}

Gives the government control over hospital staffing. Once again.. MORE JOB'S LOST, and less choices over caregivers.

Gives the government control of health care decisions. This being said.. If they think there is no chance of Recovery, They can refuse you treatment. Even if treatment could keep you with your family for say.. 6 months or more.

I could keep the reasons why I am against it going, but I have decided to stop at this point.

My Heart goes out to a fellow Military WIfe.

Recently, I read the news that Rachel, a 23 year old Marine wife lost her Husband while he was serving his Country in Afghanistan. Her story touched my heart and brought me to tears. Rachel is a newlywed, not even married a year... and recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who is about 2 months old. Her husband never got the chance to hold his baby girl.  My heart aches for this family.

Being a Military wife is hard. Knowing our husband's are fighting for their country, for his family.. for what he loves. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to loose my husband while he is away on Deployment. Rachel's story hits home.. as I am a Military wife. I have been thinking a lot about how important my husband is to me, and how sometimes I take things for granted.. I don't want to take things for granted anymore. I want him to know just how much I appreciate him and all he does for me. I want to enjoy every minute I have with him, because we truly never know when everything can be taken away.

If you haven't already, stop by Rachel's blog (link at top) and leave her some words of encouragement, just to let her know you are thinking about her and her baby Ariana.

"Aggressive" Breeds vs New Apartment Hunting

The husband and I have decided to look for a new home. The apartment we live in now is just a little on the pricey end, and because of it.. we are not able to put any money in savings.
We considered buying a house, but in these economic times, we feel that when it comes time for our next Duty Station... we may not be able to sell the home. We have decided to go hunting for a townhouse.

The apartment we live in now isn't bad, but for the price.. I expect it to be a lot better than it is. We had a problem with our the heat in the master bedroom and were basically told there was nothing they could do about it. They seem to have hot water problems in our building quite often (no problem with hot water in our apt) and when one person's hot water is messed up.. they shut the whole building's water off. They have shut our water off twice within a month's time, tomorrow will be the third time. That can be very frustrating. Monday's are always Laundry day.. and It just feels like my whole week gets thrown off. They do allow pets here with no restrictions, which is why we jumped so fast to sign the lease here.. but we're hoping to find a townhouse with a fenced in patio so she can play outside more.

Riley- Roo, 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier
I love my dog so very much. She is a 3 1/2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She is one of the sweetest, cutest most loyal dog I have ever owned or been around. But she's an "Aggressive" breed. For some reason, when people refer to her breed as "Aggressive" or even "Vicious" I just want to start on a rant.. "Dems fightin' words". (sorry for the movie reference, but it's what just popped in my head).

Today I received an email from a townhouse community and she started off by saying they were a "Pet Friendly community" and then went on to describe how they had no weight restrictions. I was thinking we found our place.. but wait.. next line said "no aggressive dogs are accepted" and the next line in small print, "The company considers aggressive to mean pit bulls, chows, Akita, etc". I wanted to scream! You're NOT a "Pet Friendly" community if you don't allow all breeds.. That's just my opinion. But it just really frustrates me. My dog is NOT aggressive nor is she Vicious! I had a chiwahwah who was more "Viscious" than Roo could even imagine of being.. and I know of two cocker spaniels that attacked my sister.. Like I said.. my dog is NOT AGGRESSIVE! I had to give myself a minute before I messaged the lady back. I really let this get to me.
I think I handled myself quite well in my response. I wrote, "Sadly, you're housing community is not for us. We have a very loving, non-aggressive American Pit Bull Terrier that you community discriminates against. Thank you for your time.".

Why does apartment hunting have to be so hard for people who love and want to save this amazing breed of dog? Especially for a military family, who doesn't have much option for housing.. We could buy a house, but with Orders that can change.. It is probably not the best idea, not for us. I'm sure we'll find another place.. I still have more than 25 townhouse communities to call and email. I'm keeping my head up, I just needed to rant some.
