Meet Christina

Hello!

My name is Christina Rush. I am the face behind Journey of a Navy Wife.
You will find that many of my social media handles are something to do with CRush because I'm a dork and like the play on my name.

I'm on the downward slope to 30, but I 'm a big kid at heart.

I'm a country gal and I overuse "y'all" and "Okie Dokie".

Just outside of Nashville is where I call home, and will always be home.

We currently live in Hampton Roads, Virginia, but will be moving to Lemoore, California in the summer of 2014.

We proud parents to Riley-Roo, our nearly 8 year old American Pit Bull Terrier, Musket, Our 5 year old cat and Converse, our 3 year old cat. All our Fur babes are rescues and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I met, dated and married my husband before his career with the Navy. We made the decision together for him to join, based on what he wanted for his and our future.
I operate my own business, Christina Rush Photography, in Hampton Roads, Virginia. I have carried a license for 3 years in the city of Norfolk, Virginia. (Moving my business to Lemoore, California in Summer 2014!)

I've been blogging since January 2010. I blog about my experiences and a lot of positives pertaining to being a wife to someone in the military. Not all my blogs are glitter and rainbows, I do sometimes get on a rant. I also blog about our road to having a baby, which has not been a happy one yet.

In the past 5 years, my husband and I have had 6 miscarriages, most recent being July 2013. I opened up to blogging about it because I know I felt alone and, for me, bottling my emotions made everything harder.

The end of 2012 was an eye-opener for my family. My husband was faced with the realization that he is an alcoholic. It was a tough road to realization and now, we're working down the road to recovery. Let me tell you, it hasn't been easy. But I'm here for better or worse... and to get us through this, together. I blog, again, because many people do not talk about the person on the other side of addiction. Thankfully, I have helped many others to open up and know they are not alone.

Being a military family isn't always, "glamorous", but I like to take the more positive approach to look at this lifestyle. Afterall, I knew what I was getting into when he enlisted. He didn't join to not go on deployments, to not go away on training and we knew it would take us hours to days away from our families. It's only a negative experience if you allow it to be.
